Our 2023 Summer of STEAM Programme is currently full STEAM ahead!

We are coming to the end of our third week focusing on Engineering, where we have been building catapults, pulley systems and constructing Da Vinci bridges using wooden sticks! During the summer holidays, we have been providing our free Summer of STEAM Youth Programme sessions, in which each week of summer centres around the different letters that make up STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).

Our young people have been learning how to write with invisible secret writing and pictures, BBC Micro:bits and coding and engineering useful systems out of household and recyclable items. We have spilt our sessions by school group, with two weekly sessions for both P4 – P7 and S1 – S6.

We have been having a wonderful time each week letting our young people discover their STEAM talents through the activities and their feedback has also let us know what they have been enjoying;
“I enjoyed both activities, the invisible ink and secret writing was cool, I really enjoyed it.” “I’ve been enjoying looking into other STEM stuff, beyond digital.”
“The summer stuff is enjoyable; it gets me out the house! I’m excited for engineering.”
“The summer stuff has been good; I’m excited for the engineering sessions.”
“It’s my first time here, I’m excited for maths week because I like maths – I’m coming to every club!”
“It’s been better than I thought it would be, it was a challenge!”
“I would like to do more, I liked making and testing things.”
“I’d like to do more engineering stuff, I like making things so I enjoyed this session.”
Most of our sessions have now sold out and we are greatly looking forward to both our Art and Mathematics week before the summer finishes!
