Coding, Creating and Crafting at Paisley YMCA with our STEAM Summer Holiday Activities!

We’re currently in the second week of our Summer STEAM Sessions this year and we’ve been thrilled at the activity taking place in our sold-out sessions each week! This year we placed as much emphasis on the Art of STEAM as well as the technology and coding that are a reliable staple of our sessions.

We have dedicated Mega Mecha Mondays to teaching young people how to create their very own platforming game using code. We will be continuing this project over the summer holidays with the hopes of our young having their own completed game to show off before the schools go back!

We have dedicated Wednesdays to craft and artistic activity, with vinyl cutting, badge making and creating tshirt designs to wear! This is the session where our young people’s creativity comes out in full force and it’s always fun to see what they have to show us at the end of the session.

Saturdays are a drop-in session for families in Paisley, to make use of our facilities to have some fun time together over the summer. They can create t-shirts and tote bags together and have some free lunch provided all summer at each session.

Lunch at every session so far has been provided by Scott McGinlay Catering. We make sure to include two full fruit platters to encourage healthy eating and catering to various dietary requirements and allergies with sandwiches and snacks.

We asked the young people who have joined us so far what was their favourite part of the programme:

“I like the sandwiches and games!”

“Making tshirts!”

“Badges and vinyl cutting 😊”

“Making my own game!”

“Pin making and the badges.”

All sessions are from 12 – 3pm. For more information and to sign up for one of our events, please visit our Eventbrite page.
